GGAT – Module 10 – Passive Voice in details – Strona Bierna

Here is a short story presented in both active and passive voice:

Active Voice:
John built a treehouse for his children last summer. His kids loved playing in it every day. Unfortunately, the treehouse was destroyed by a strong storm last week. John plans to rebuild it as soon as possible.

Passive Voice:
A treehouse was built by John for his children last summer. It was loved by his kids and played in every day. Regrettably, the treehouse was destroyed by a strong storm last week. It is planned to be rebuilt by John as soon as possible.

Here are some sentences including both active voice and passive voice options:

Active Voice:
The chef cooked a delicious dinner for the guests.
The company will launch a new product next month.
She wrote an inspiring speech for the event.
The team won the championship trophy.
They are planning a surprise party for Sarah’s birthday.

Passive Voice:
A delicious dinner was cooked for the guests by the chef.
A new product will be launched next month by the company.
An inspiring speech was written for the event by her.
The championship trophy was won by the team.
A surprise party is being planned for Sarah’s birthday by them.

Pamiętajcie moi drodzy, że nie uczymy się do egzaminów, zdajemy je przy okazji, ale po to aby swobodnie i pewnie korzystać ze zdobytej wiedzy. Nie ma nudnej książki, jest mój autorski materiał, który sprawdza się od wielu lat na kursie 'stacjonarnym’ i jest weryfikowany praktycznie każdego dnia.

Scenariusze moich autorskich zajęć zawierają unikalne materiały oparte na tym, co potrzebujemy w życiu codziennym, aby posługiwać się językiem angielskim. Gramatyka i inne elementy językowe, są tylko narzędziami, które mamy umiejętnie wykorzystać w trakcie nauki.

Całość pozwoli Ci osiągnąć poziom średnio-zaawansowany.

If you are working alone, and you wish to use the course to increase your vocabulary range and using grammar properly work through at a reasonable pace. If you come across a section which you think is of no importance to you or in which you feel your vocabulary is already very strong, leave it out, perhaps returning to it later. Some parts are easier than others. Never spend too long on one particular section. Treat the course as a cross between a manual and a collection of short stories, not as a novel which you want to read quite quickly from cover to cover. Sometimes refer to it to check a word you’re not sure of or need to use; sometimes browse through it and pick a section to listen to or read and study, just because it’s of interest or perhaps an area of English you have never really considered before. And keep coming back to it, as you would a story you have just enjoyed. Each time you look at a particular section, you will find your vocabulary and grammar use seem stronger, more refined, more elastic than the time before.There is little point in having thirty thousand words in your head if you are only able to call up about five hundred when you find yourself in a particular situation. The Practice sections will help you to start using the vocabulary more or less automatically and without too much hesitation. These sections will also help your speaking and writing skills in general. There is enough here to give Examiners quite a surprise when they read your compositions and hear your answers to Interview questions.
